| I was born and raised in Chicago IL. My fascination with photography began at a very young age when my parents handed me a Polaroid camera during a family vacation. I was hooked the moment I looked through the camera’s viewfinder. While in High School, I began studying art and photography taking pictures for the school newspaper. During that time, I gained experience with an established photographer as his apprentice with various duties including managing the darkroom. It was there, in the small darkroom of that studio where I first became knowledgeable of the fundamentals and history of traditional photography. I came into realization that I wanted to be a professional photographer. My dream led me to attend Columbia College, Chicago where I graduated with a degree in fine art, concentrating in Photography, Graphic Design and Film. Immediately after graduation, I had an opportunity to work as a Professional Photojournalist in the Chicago area. There I had exposure to a variety of assignments related to current events, news, and local politics. Throughout that time, I developed an interest in shooting commercial and advertising photography. When an opening for an assistant job became available working inside a studio, I immediately jumped at the chance. I was soon promoted to shooting. And worked for many of the city’s photo & design studios collaborating with other creative professionals on various assignments. During this experience I discovered my love of still life imagery. It fell right in line with my deep interest in design, color relationships and visual rhythm. I found that building images, rather than just taking them was my true passion. Whether it’s shooting a product or even photographing people, I believe everything can be seen as a still life. Sometimes I get obsessed in the simple, mundane and quiet beauty in things. I always try to tell a story in my images. I often gather my research and inspiration out of the photographic world in mediums such as fine art painting, three dimensional design and music. I have well over a decade of experience working in large production sets and on location. I am a conscientious partner and a reliable guide to my fellow artists and clients. I am interested in the collaborative process as much as the end results. Tony currently lives in Los Angeles CA. with his Wife and Daughter. |
